Why don't you post regularly any more?
From 2006-2016 (ten years) I did post regularly. Then a wave of repugnant selfishness swept over the USA and I just couldn't any more. When 2021 dawned, I started up again, but this time, family members were overcome with health problems. Now, (fall of 2024) I am starting up again, planning to post every couple of weeks through this knitting season. We'll see how it goes...

Why don't the illustrations display on my pad/phone? All I see is a "?" or an empty frame where the illustrations should be.
This publishing service (blogspot) is pretty antique--it is optimized for desktops. So, if you have the option, click "get desktop version." The text may not flow as pretty, but the photos and illustrations will appear. Alternatively, if your operating system won't let you choose "desktop version," you can manually fetch the illustration by clicking on "?" or anywhere in a blank illustration frame: the illustration will then display.

How do you draw the illustrations?
For the line drawings, I use Adobe Illustrator which is a vector drawing program. I also use Illustrator to edit, colorize and label photographs, as well as to export and format all illustrations to jpegs. For line-drawings, I use old-school tools and methods: mostly drawing freehand with the mouse, using the (vector) pen tool.

Do you use AI to make your illustrations or write text?
Not knowingly. Each illustration is drawn by hand. All the words are mine. There is no conscious collaboration with any intelligence other than my own or, occasionally, another human's. There very well might be be AI running behind the scene in the various software I use, but I am not conscious of it.

How long do the illustrations take?
Most take several hours, some take a lot more. This one took the longest of all--several days of constant work. The hard part is making sure each stitch is "anatomically correct." Where stitches overlay things get complex, which is why the linked illustration took so long.

Who the heck are you? Why don't you use your real name?
Way, way back in November 2006, when this blog started, I had a professional day job and small children.  Anonymity was my best bet. That choice led to my "knitting name" being TECHknitter or TK. By now, if I did use my real name, no one would have any idea who I even was. Plus, I like a little mystery, you know?

Are you ever going to write a book?
Hahaha. Book. In a TikTok world, who reads books? (Or even blogs?) But even if books somehow make a comeback, I have no idea if I'll ever get my act together to write one. Instead, consider TECHknitting blog to BE a sort of an online e-book, easily accessed through this index

Where do your ideas come from?
Beats me. I wake up in the middle of the night and--poof--there it is--a knitting idea. They used to wake me up, hammering to get out of my head. Now, I have learned I have to ignore many of them, or I'd never get ANYTHING done...
